Richard from Atlanta, GA had this to say:
"I brought a girlfriend who had never been to Jamaica before. We were instantly impressed on arrival with the lobby. The rooms were very nice with spacious comfortable beds with an impressive bathroom including seperate shower an sexy tubs with jets(can't think of proper name). Food was good & plenty except for the Fisherman's Place; A/C didn't work and seafood disappointing. Didn't appreciate having to make reservations to booked out restaurants and wear long pants. All the other restaurants were impressive including buffet. G.B.P has one of the largest and most impressive beaches you'll find @ any resort in Jamaica, rumor has it that well over a million dollars spent on the beach. Huge pool with pool bars. Didn't care for the Europeans hogging beach
chairs by placing towels on them an not
coming back. A lot of Europeans and
Spaniard guests; they tend to be uptight
and rude. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially bartenders; cups small
but plentiful. One of the largest and most beautiful resorts in Jamaica and I've been to more than few. Helps a lot that it's almost brand new. Nicer than the 5 star Ritz-Carlton in MoBay for a lot less money. I rented a car for day excursions an hotel had covered
parking. They had programs for kids day & night, so you didn't have to see
them that much. When it was time to check out, she didn't want to leave. We had great time. G.B.P was luxurious and relaxing getaway. I'll BE BACK!!"

Pam from Houston, Texas had this to say:
"We will never again stay at Gran Bahia. We had stayed with our family and friends for a week in May and October of 2007, but when we returned in June of 2008 we were shocked that all the wonderful accommodating and friendly managers had all been fired and replaced by terrible ones who would not wear a name tag or ever talk to you about any issue. Men had to wear long pants to the casual buffet at dinner, even though you did not in the past and the change was not listed on the website. It was terrible, as all of our men had brought only one pair of long pants for the fancy restaurants made by reservations. There was not one choice of a bourbon to drink without paying for it. This also had changed and we had not way of knowing. There is a chair ledge in the pool but you are not allowed to put a chair there. You also cannot bring your plastic chair to the edge of the ocean if you are hot, and we were embarrassed as someone drove up in a cart and screamed at us to bring them back on the beach. There is no piano bar as is advertised in the brochure, and when we all went to the karaoke bar all the songs and lyrics were in Spanish, so we could not sing along. We finally decided that Gran Bahia just does not want Americans, nor did it seem to care that we paid to relax on vacation and not to be bludgeoned with new rules we knew nothing about. This trip to Jamaica is our twenty-third, so trust me when I say there are much better resorts with premium liquors and food and your experience is truly no problem."

Lisa from Middlebury, IN had this to say:
"I thought this hotel was good but not great. It seemed like a pretty long drive from the airport but it was pleasant enough. The property was beautiful - people on the bus who were going to different hotels were jealous. The room itself was just ok. The staff was great - nice and friendly. The restaurants were all booked up when we were there and the reservation process is kind of a hassle. The food on the buffets was pretty good. The nightlife there left a little to be desired - it was my friend's 40th birthday and it was a struggle to make it really fun. I am not sure if I would return."

Natalie from Philadelphia, PA had this to say:
"First of, I don't even know where to begin when it comes to how enjoyable this resort was. I was very skeptical at first, because of the reasonable cost and mixed reviews I read on other sites. However, Bahia is really something else, in all the best ways.
The resort itself is 90 minutes away from the MoBay airport, and 30 mins from Ochos Rios, both a bit further than expected. The hotel is HUGE- when it's finished, it'll be the biggest resort in Jamaica! So, yes it isn't finished yet, and I heard of a bit of construction still happening, but not enough where it was bothersome. It's a beautiful place, very clean, and very well kept. The building itself is a fusion of Greek & Victorian architecture. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and made me not want to come home: they were the type (for the most part) that just seem to love life more so than people here in the States. The food was great (both the buffet and the a la carte places we went to) there was always something for everyone, believe me, I'm the pickiest eater. Almost all the rooms have a great view, all with a balcony. The room's inside was very spacious, clean, and romantic. The pool is probably the largest (& cleanest) one I've ever seen, the circumference is probably bigger than a running track: there are 3 Jacuzzis in the pool, 2 swim up bars, and bridges for crossing along the way. The closest beaches are kind of rocky, so we walked to the farther beach because it wasn't rocky.
Overall, my experience at this resort was excellent. I have no regrets in my choosing this place. If I could, I would go back again today. G.B.P. (Jamaica) truly was a great place for a relaxing vacation."

Louise from West Palm, Florida had this to say:
"Definitely will return to the Gran Bahia in Jamaica! Just returned to the US and ready to go back. Bus ride to and from airport was in a large, comfy, airconditioned bus. Road in some areas was under construction, but that could be anywhere in the states also. Buffet always offered many choices to accomodate even the most finicky eaters. Fresh fruit at all meals was like fresh picked. The other on-site restaurants were tops on elegance, though presentations were excellence, some food was lacking in quality. The MIKADO, Japanese restaurant was EXCELLENT. The beaches and many water/boating activities were top notch. You could choose to only relax, or choose to be involved in the many organized activities: paddle boating, glass bottom boat, fishing, snorkling, deep sea diving, kayaking etc. The world realizes Jamaica is a developing nation and the progress they are making is astounding and exciting to watch. The Gran Bahia at Runaway Bay offers its guests 5 stars of excellence and a value well worth the money spent. The staff exceeded excellence, always attentive, friendly and ready to serve. We did not experience any negatives regarding our room, scheduling outings, service, or friendliness. Our cab driver gave us $80 worth of sightseeing and more. We opted not to do a bus/package tour, but our own cab tour. INCREDIBLE! We meandered through small towns, mingling with the locals, bartered for souveneirs in Ochos Rios, eased our way up and back through Fern Gully and the over 200 species of ferns, gazed through history at Columbus' landing point in Jamaica( in 1494) at Columbus Park....$80 definitely well spent...we saw so much and loved every minute of it!
Yes, the buzz of mosquitos could dampen an evening out, but we brought our repellent, so no problem!
The locals who are employed at the Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica were the icing on the cake, making our trip our best yet. They always smiled, no task was too much, our every need was met with "no problem, mon!" It was a vacation to remember and one to look forward to again!"
