2010 Hurricane Season Policy (June 1 to November 30, 2010)
The special conditions and waivers will apply only to the affected destinations and as soon as, but not before, an official Hurricane Watch has been issued by the US National Hurricane Center:

Evacuation: When in-house Guests are evacuated from the property, as a result of an actual Hurricane warning or as per instruction from the authorities, charges for the night(s) that Guests remain in the shelter will be waived. Once the Guests return to the hotel with basic services available (food, beverage, and lodging with running water and electricity) night charges as a normal stay.
Guests in the hotel: If Guests remain in the hotel and basic services are not affected for more than 24 hours, charge as a normal day and no reimbursements will be made. If basic services are interrupted for more than 24 hours, charges of the nights where the basic services were not available will be waived.
Forced Stay: Guests forced to remain longer than originally planned and the basic services of the hotel were available, a special distress rate will be defined. This distress rate will be charged directly to each guest on property, unless the Tour Operator confirms in writing that they will pay for their Guests extended stay.
Cancellations, No-Shows, and Early departures: No penalty will be charged if due to an imminent hurricane threat.
Guests will have the option to reschedule their current trip to a different date or a different Riu property by covering the corresponding change in rates (if it applies)

Please note that a threat is imminent when an actual hurricane (category 1 or higher) is headed and likely to hit one of our destinations within the next 72 hrs, according to the forecasts issued by the NHC. Tropical depressions, tropical storms, heavy rain or wind, and bad weather in general are not considered hurricanes.

"We stayed at RIU Montego and LOVED IT! It`s so beautiful there and everyone was friendly and we felt very safe. Food is good, drinks are plentiful. Every night they had a show-very talented dancers and musicians! Shopping nearby and our driver stayed with us while we shopped. DO take the Zipline tour which is very memorable! Our room was cool and comfy..do bring bug spray with you as the mosquitoes are out at night! Small casino was fun too! Lots of beautiful weddings while we were there also. You wont be disappointed with RIU Montego!"

As soon as we entered the lobby it was like a breath of fresh air that I had never experienced before. We new we were in paradise. The staff is excellent and the restaurants/food was great and there is so many things to do. We did the zip line tour which is about 45 minutes away from the hotel, I highly recommend it if you are adventurous. You have to take the snorkeling cruise for sure also. But the hotel and beach are so beautiful you don`t even have to leave the resort. We are definitely going back. This is truly paradise."

"My wife and I booked this little five day / four night getaway last week, last minute. We used Bookit.com. We read a few reviews, looked at some photos: we decided to give Riu MB a shot. Were we glad we did? Absolutely. We would return in a heartbeat. This was our first vacation without our three children. Kind of a second honeymoon of sorts. We loved everything: the hotel, the staff, the beach, the activities, the pool, the food, the drinks, the list goes on. We took two side trips: we went zip lining (worth every penny, we had a blast, made memories to last a lifetime); we also took a trip into Ocho Rios (our tour included shopping, dining and a 2 hour visit to Dunn`s River Falls). To me, the Dunn`s River Falls is to Jamaica what the Eiffel Tower is to France - it`s a must see attraction. If we had more time we also would have visited Negril. Next time. If you are single or in a relationship or if you want to travel as a family, Jamaica is well worth your consideration. You won`t be disappointed. We weren`t. "

The resort itself is so adorable. The entire staff is so friendly, from the reception desk, to the bell hop, to housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff! EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE 100% of the time! The food was delicious! The steakhouse reminded me of Ruth's Chris, and the Italian was just as good. The stew chicken had me smiling the entire time I ate it. They also have a grill on the beach; go see them and they will hook you up with THE BEST CHICKEN EVER! I was a never a pina colada kind of girl, but my mind changed that with one sip! Two thumbs up to the Riu Montego Bay. We will be back in February!"

When we went there was a beauty pageant which was good and the tribute to Michael Jackson was a nice highlight to our time there. Make reservations on the day you come in. "My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at Riu. From check-in to check-out, the staff was wonderful, friendly, helpful, courteous. Whether it was housekeeping, gardening, bellboy, any staff member would look you in the eye and be happy to answer any question. In a nutshell, the place is beautiful and clean. There is a wide variety of food and drink. There is entertainment every night, some of the shows are more elaborate than others. There is a free shuttle to a nearby shopping center and also to a club in Montego Bay Town. There are lots to do and places to relax. The ocean view is beautiful. The only down-side is if you are a serious sea-bather, this is a man-made beach and there is a lot of seaweed after you get in for more than 5 feet into the water. The pool is very large and beautiful though. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would now like to visit other Riu hotels."

"Although my stay had several issues, starting with the tub continuously filling with water as i showered. They were never able to fix the drain in the tub and i was there 4 days! Also my 'ocean-view' was just that, a view. If you leaned your head and ducked down a bit that is. Opt for the ocean front, it's got a great view. But i won't count that against them because what i lacked in being able to see the sea, it made up for with a view of the numerous pools. I must admit I've stayed at a Hyatt Resort and Spa and the rooms were much better, the beds were a bit too firm for my taste. But you can't beat this staff here. When I called about something and they were there in less than 15 minutes. If it wasn't for the staff, although young and most seemed to be inexperienced at times (maintenance), I wouldn't recommend this resort to anyone. So big thanks to Ricardo (front desk) Shikera (Spa appointments) and Issac (the shuttle driver) for making this a place i'd visit again. Also the nightly entertainment was fun and the club DJ was great. "

The food was the best we could ever ask for,,,Gained 10 lbs in 1 week. The drinks were always more than I ever wanted and even asked the staff to cut them down verses wanting more. The entertainment which I recommend to anyone well,,,,kept us going every nite providing the drinks were slowed down on my part,,,,the steel drums and the break dancers ,the ones that spin around and flip and do all the things anyone wished they could do was just spectacular to watch. I recommend this hotel to anyone, I don't think you could ever be disappointed going here and I travel a lot of places. Also before i go the there were a lot of tours provided that even made the trip more enjoyable,just check them out.Go for it,,, you won't be disappointed."
