"We livwe in Volcano, about 90 miles from Kailua-Kona, where Poncho and Lefties is. We discovered it when we vacationed here 10 or 12 years ago before we moved here from California. Every trip around the island finds us at P&L for one or anther version of their Fajitas. Favorites are the fish and/or fish and shrimp fajitas. Have been eating there at least 4 times a year for the past 10 years, and always have a great meal. Yes, it's upstairs, which is a problem for my wife's bad knee, but worth the effort, even for her. mafgaritas are my favorite and Lava Flow my wife's when it comes to drinks. About 30-50% of their business seems to come from locals, so that should give you the idea that they are consistent, with decent service, good food, and reasonable prices, as the locals typically afford "tourist prices" you find at a lot of places. I don't go to Kona without a visit to Poncho and Lefty's... I only wish I could get a comission for all the people I've sent there over the last 10 years or so...."

"After several days in Kona i finally went up (yes it's upstairs) to Pancho Lefty's... and i am SO GLAD! The staff ig GREAT! My server Jason even gave me amazing tips on places to go on the island that most tourists miss!! The food was great! Living in southern California, i eat a lot of mexican food... and this was better than many of the places down here!! The bar drinks were great as well... not too weak and not too strong!! I ate there 3 more times!!!"
